Upcycling DIY: Monte light chain for a special feel-good atmosphere

Fairy lights are very popular all year round. They are not only used in the cold and dark season to make the home a little brighter and cozier. Even in summer they decorate balconies, trees and bushes and lend a romantic atmosphere to mild summer evenings.

Let there be light!

Nowadays, in addition to the classic chain of lights with white-yellow light, a wide range of different variants is offered. Colourful, flashing or with special motifs - almost nothing is left to be desired. However, you can't buy your own Monte light chain anywhere! We'll show you how easy it is to make your own.

Monte

You need for the fairy lights:

  • 1 LED string of lights (any length)
  • Small Monte cups (e.g. 55g or 100g cups) --> The number of cups required corresponds to the number of bulbs in your light chain
  • Felt pen/eding pen
  • Scissors/cutter knife

Instructions

Step 1

Line the washed cups upside down. Mark each cup with an X in the middle.

Step 2

Carefully cut a hole in each cup at the marked location on the bottom. (Should the incision cause problems, an adult will certainly be there to help.)

Step 3

Thread the individual light bulbs through the holes in the cups from the outside so that the bulbs end up inside the cups.

Step 4

Is the fairy lights ready? Then put the plug in the socket, turn off the lights and enjoy the cozy atmosphere with your loved ones.
